Designs by Jude July Feature - Christmas in July & Boudoir Elegance

One of our favorite traditions each summer is celebrating Tamara Casey's Christmas in July Sale at Designs by Jude. If you've admired one of Tamara's patterns but have been waiting for the perfect time to add it to your collection, this is it!

Throughout the entire month of July, a rotating selection of her patterns is available for just $5.00 each. The featured patterns change daily, making every visit a little different and every day a chance to discover something new. It's a wonderful opportunity for doll collectors and sewing enthusiasts alike to build a pattern library filled with beautiful, timeless designs.

In addition to the daily pattern specials, you'll also find a wonderful assortment of shoes, wigs, notions, and other sewing supplies available throughout the sale. Whether you're planning your next project or stocking up for the months ahead, July is one of the best times of the year to visit Designs by Jude.

This month, we'd also like to shine the spotlight on one of Tamara's newest creations for the Virtual Doll Convention community: Boudoir Elegance, designed especially for our June Grace Marie Fitzpatrick historical subscription.

Inspired by the luxurious dressing gowns once worn in elegant European boudoirs, this stunning ensemble captures a quiet moment of refinement before the day begins. The centerpiece is a sheer, floor-length robe that floats gracefully with every movement. Dramatic ruffled cuffs and a full ruffled hem create a sense of romance, while delicate sparkle tulle adds just the right amount of glamour.

One of the things we appreciate most about historical fashion is that true elegance didn't begin with the outer gown. Every beautiful silhouette started with carefully designed layers beneath. Those underpinnings weren't simply practical—they reflected craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the belief that wearing something beautiful could bring confidence, even if no one else ever saw it.

We think there's something rather timeless about that idea. Sometimes the most beautiful garments are the ones worn simply because they make the wearer feel graceful, confident, and special. It's a reminder that fashion isn't always about impressing others. Sometimes it's simply about the joy of surrounding yourself with beauty.

Speaking of beautiful underpinnings, we couldn't resist sharing a few more of our favorite Designs by Jude patterns that celebrate the elegance of intimate fashions. This month's feature, Boudoir Elegance, is joined by three other beautiful designs that have become VDC favorites over the years. Historic Silhouette showcases the fascinating foundation garments that created the dramatic shapes of historical fashion, while Sweetheart and Bewitching Lingerie prove that even the simplest slips and lingerie can be works of art. Each pattern reflects Tamara Casey's incredible eye for fit, proportion, and beautiful details, making them wonderful additions to any doll wardrobe. Whether you're sewing for history, glamour, or simply the joy of creating something beautiful, these patterns are sure to inspire your next project.

Don't Forget Tamara's Ready-to-Wear Fashions!

Did you know that Tamara also offers a wonderful selection of ready-made doll clothing on her website?

Her inventory is always changing, so it's worth checking back often—especially right after our VDC subscription reveals. Whenever possible, Tamara creates a small number of finished garments from our featured Pattern of the Month, giving collectors the opportunity to own the design without sewing it themselves.

If you've fallen in love with one of Tamara's creations but don't sew, be sure to visit her website often. You never know what beautiful new treasure might be waiting for you!

Over the coming months, we'll continue highlighting some of our favorite Designs by Jude creations here on the VDC blog, including more of Tamara's wonderful undergarment and foundation patterns.

If you haven't explored the Christmas in July Sale, now is the perfect time. We encourage you to stop by often throughout the month, as the featured $5.00 patterns change daily and every visit offers something new to discover.

Happy sewing!
