Designs by Jude Insider: Patterns, Tutorials & a Little Update from Tamara
We have lots to share from Designs by Jude this month, including two beautiful recent patterns, new YouTube tutorials, and an update from Tamara Casey herself.
For July, Tamara created Unmatched Glamour, a pattern inspired by the elegance and drama of 1930s fashion. The design captures that unmistakable old-Hollywood feeling with a silhouette that feels polished, feminine, and sophisticated. It was created to complement our 1930s Grace theme and gives collectors the opportunity to explore the beautiful lines and glamorous details that made the decade so memorable. This is one of those patterns that can look completely different depending on the fabrics and trims you choose, making it especially fun for collectors who enjoy putting their own spin on a historical-inspired design. Tamara also created a YouTube tutorial to accompany the pattern, walking sewists through the construction and helping bring all of those lovely details together.
For August, Tamara followed with The Wishing Dress, created as a companion pattern to our Charles Frederick Worth-inspired Grace subscription gown. This design leans fully into the romance and extravagance of late-19th-century fashion, with layers, movement, and beautiful decorative details that give it a wonderfully theatrical quality. The pattern was designed to feel special and imaginative while still giving collectors lots of room to experiment with their own fabrics, colors, trims, and finishing touches. It is a lovely way to continue exploring the world of Worth-inspired fashion beyond the subscription box itself. Tamara also filmed a YouTube tutorial for The Wishing Dress, making it easier to follow the construction process and see how all of the pieces come together.
A Personal Update From Tamara
Tamara also recently shared some personal news with her community. She is recovering from shoulder surgery and is taking a short break from sewing while she heals. Thankfully, Designs by Jude is still very much open and busy! Tamara has stocked the Boutique with ready-made outfits and some fun manufactured items to enjoy while she focuses on her recovery.
We are sending Tamara all of our love, encouragement, and every positive thought for a smooth recovery. We know how hard it must be for someone as creative and productive as Tamara to stay away from the sewing machine, and we hope she gives herself all the time she needs to heal.
The good news is that we will be seeing her very soon! Tamara will be joining the VDC team at the Robert Tonner Convention at the beginning of October, followed by the Ohio National Doll Show. We are so excited to spend time with her, talk dolls, and enjoy a wonderful weekend of collecting together.
We hope many of you will be there too!
Until then, be sure to visit the Designs by Jude Boutique, check out Tamara’s latest patterns, and watch her sewing tutorials on YouTube. There is always something creative happening at Designs by Jude, even while Tamara takes a well-deserved little sewing break.
We can’t wait to see what she creates next.
