A Magical Weekend at the Ohio National Doll Show

Hi There, Rachel here!

Just like that—in the blink of an eye—we’re already back home in Denver after the Ohio National Doll Show! We shared lots of photos on social media, but I wanted to take a moment to recap here so you can enjoy the fun and adventures with us.

On the first night, we had dinner with Robert Tonner, and it was such a joy to be together again and talk about future plans. Saturday was a big day—the team worked hard setting up for the gala banquet that evening. I wasn’t feeling my best (pregnancy nausea is no joke!), so I had to take breaks on the floor while the team carried on. I’m so thankful to them—I truly could not have done it without their strength and support.

I was able to attend Carol Cameron’s wonderful luncheon on the history of American Cloth Dolls—the program (and the food!) was superb. There were also so many great programs and roundtable discussions that I wish I could have gone to them all. You can see the different events that took place here.

Saturday night was the gala banquet, and it was such a highlight. The tables, decorated by Billye Harris and the VDC Team, looked absolutely stunning. We enjoyed inspiring programs, a costume contest, and—thanks to Robert Tonner—everyone took home a Neema doll! (The cheesecake at the end was pretty magical too.) I loved having the chance to chat with so many friends in person and capture those memories in photos. The gala banquet dinner was valued at over $400, with the doll and all the wonderful extras at each table—what fun it was!!

On Sunday, we had the doll show itself. The VDC Team set up a booth with vintage dolls, a small edition of the new Sybil cat, as well as sneak peeks at our upcoming subscription series. Diana Vining also had a beautiful table for the Paper Doll Shoppe. The whole weekend felt magical—and while it was a challenge for me as a pregnant gal, I’m so thankful I was able to be there. It would have been much harder to miss it, and because of the team’s incredible hard work, I didn’t have to. The salesroom was massive, and full of sellers offering every kind of doll, toy, and teddy bear you could want. I wish I could have shopped more!

A special thank-you as well to Dilhermando in Brazil, who edited and posted on social media for us all weekend so the community could follow along.

We have lots of updates coming this month about our subscriptions, and I’ll be sharing those soon. For now, I just wanted to bring you into the loop. If you missed this show, mark your calendar for next yearit will be held again in early October, and there are already many exciting things in development for collectors.

Thank you to Billye Harris, Gail Lemmon, UFDC, the VDC Team, and of course all of you who made this weekend so special.

In Love and Dolls,
Rachel Hoffman
