Sybil’s Observations from the Dressing Room Window

Oh, honestly.

One moment I was enjoying a perfectly respectable afternoon nap in a patch of sunlight, and the next thing I know Ellowyne has decided we are both to be involved in something she calls “sparkle.”

The outfit, she insists, is called Tiresome Twinkle, which I must admit is a very accurate name — as it glitters in nearly every direction. The entire ensemble is made from shimmering silver sequins that catch the light with every dramatic turn she takes in front of the mirror. Apparently, this is what humans call fashion.

The silhouette is quite sleek, I will give her that. A fitted top with delicate buttons and little black bows down the front, finished with a crisp collar and long sleeves trimmed in black. The trousers fall in an elegant line to the ankle, creating a modern sort of glamour that Ellowyne seems very pleased with.

She paired the look with her black heels, sheer stockings, and those rather dramatic tassel earrings that sway every time she tilts her head to admire herself.

And then — as if the situation were not already sparkling enough — she decided that I should have a matching ensemble.

Yes. Me.

My own little jacket is made from the very same dazzling silver sequins, complete with a tidy black bow at the collar. While I do not normally encourage such attention to my wardrobe, I must admit it fits rather well and does make my eyes look especially striking.

Ellowyne says we look “absolutely fabulous together.”

I say it is all a bit much.

Still… if one must endure twinkling, one may as well do it properly.
